Christmas 2009!

Merry Christmas to you all!

This is a report from the Mandarin Christmas service:

This year we have the youths serving as ushers, and they did a splendid job welcoming members & guests!

It was a totally awesome Christmas service - Christ glorifying, Christ centered, Christ focused service.

Below are some snippets:

TESTIMONIES:
Don't be "deceived" by the smiles...upon hearing brother Simon's testimony, we almost wanted to STONE him on the spot to "avenge" for his beloved wife.

But God is merciful. Upon hearing the awesome transformation God has done in his life, we ended up almost wanting to hug & kiss him with tears & joy :)

Bernard, one of the youths, testified to God's faithfulness in literally "covering" him from dengue WHILE having his PMR exam earlier this year.

"Covering" - not just protecting him from the adverse effects of dengue, but also concealing the fact that he had dengue prior to the end of PMR!

And by the grace of God, Bernard scored 7As for the glory of God! Hallelujah!

Elisa, another youth, also gave a glorious testimony to God's work of restoration in her life.

God didn't just restore her back from falling dangerously into a rebellious life, but also restored back her relationship with her mom.

But MOST important of all, God restores back Elisa's relationship with God Himself. Nothing is more precious than that. Hallelujah!

PERFORMANCES:
SUPER DUPER group singing performance & a solo piano performance by the Sunday School kids!

Btw, they didn't just sing & play, they also recited John 3:16, and through their prologue, they also proclaimed the Gospel - the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ - to the church! Glory be to God!

It was followed by the Youth Group that presented a lively, action-packed dance routine that brought down the house! Very professionally choreographed & executed to the glory of God!

Last but certainly not least, we were blessed to have a team of Korean brothers & sisters in our midst, celebrating Christmas together with us.

Like Pastor Belinda said: "Though we might not understand Korean as a language, but we did catch the name of Jesus many times in their singing! Hallelujah!"

We were all so blessed by their presence & by their performances.

PREACHING OF THE WORD:
Elder Phang shared a most edifying & powerful message from these Scriptures:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
(Isa 9:6)

For he says, "In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
(2Co 6:2)

Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,
(Heb 2:1-3)

To the believers, his message was a calling for our absolute submission & obedience to Christ Jesus as LORD in ALL aspects of our lives.

To the nonbelievers, his message was an urgent call for salvation.

To both believers & nonbelievers, his message was a proclamation that God's word & promises regarding salvation are CERTAIN, and have been delivered through the incarnation of God through Jesus Christ in flesh to us all.

Amen.

Thank the LORD for this most blessed Christmas service! All glory be to His name alone!
