Women's Joy Fellowship Outreach

Yes, it is "official"...EBC is now a modeling agency too ;)

We have the FINEST models who are not just beautiful & glamorous they are also the sweet fragrances of Jesus.

In fact, such are the qualities of all the ladies in our much loved Women's Joy Fellowship (WJF). They are ambassadors of Christ who are passionate in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the community at large through their ministry.

A couple of weeks back, WJF orgainsed an Outreach at Crown Tower.

Though Pastor Joyce (Singapore) was the main "attraction" for the event, WJF made FULL use of the event to showcase other Christian ministries :) Kudos to them!

Everything WJF did that day was Kingdom related and Christ centered. The guests were literally SATURATED with the aroma of Jesus from beginning to end! Hallelujah!

Some photos from the event:

Here, guests can contribute financially to Pastor Joyce's other ministry in South Asia by supporting these cakes & crafts.

Here is sister Deborah sharing her AMAZING miraculous healing testimony all to the glory of God.

Our very EBC models!!!

Now coming back to the modeling part....though the high-light was on PEARLS...actually there in lies yet another Christ related truth...a gem of a truth...

It is interesting to note that the Bible uses Pearl to illustrate the immeasurable worth of the Kingdom of heaven in the Gospel of Matthew:

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
(Mat 13:45-46)

In more ways than one, we all are like merchants running our daily lives cutting deals hoping for maximum potential returns with our limited time & resources, are we not?

And more often than not, we pursue "profits" that are directly linked to attributes such as: health, wealth, self-esteem, status...etc. Well, nothing "wrong" with them per se, but do you know these are just MERE "trinkets" of this earthly life? Their ultimate value is only of worth in RELATIVE to their use.

It is lamentable that the world today is much consumed with these pursuits for SELF consumption. The accumulation & acquisition of trinkets have become the SOLE purpose & meaning of life for many.

This is the reason why the ministry of WJF is so important because they point people to that ONE PEARL of GREAT VALUE! And what is THIS pearl?

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.
(Php 3:8)

May WJF be the Ministry of Reconciliation which through the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to reconcile unregenerate men back to God...to show them the IMMEASURABLE WORTH of Jesus Christ, who ALONE is worthy of our praise, worship & pursuit.

Praise the LORD for WJF!

All glory be to God!

Hui Sing Community Project - Gotong Royong

A couple of months back, Pastor announced that in conjunction with NECF's "Love Your Neighbour" theme this year, EBC would do a community project right where our church is located - Hui Sing Garden.

Hui Sing Garden is a busy place. It has a thriving commercial center populated with traditional kopi tiams & restaurants in the midst of a large residential area. And a very popular night open air hawker center.

Though the place is relatively clean, but as the adage goes: there is always "room for improvement" :) So GOTONG ROYONG was chosen as the most meaningful & practical project the church would embark on in service to the community.

A special note here: We are blessed to have brother Francis who volunteered to lead & organise this most meaningful project. From meeting the Mayor to securing city council approval to buying tongs and plastic bags, brother Francis had been busy behind the scene for the past weeks in order to prepare for TODAY - the ACTION DAY!

The Gotong Royong kicked off at 3 p.m this afternoon...to an OVERWHELMING response! The turnout was SO much more than what brother Francis had expected. Hmmm...goes to show a lot about his faith... JOKE JOKE! ;)

Here is a short video of the briefing:

Distribution of the necessary tools (tongs, plastic bags & gloves) before hitting the streets:

Here is how it works today: We divided Hui Sing into 5 attack zones with each zone having a dedicated team of "sanitary engineers". Each team would consist of multiple Units with each Unit consisting a Tong-guy & a Plastic-Bag guy.

Here is how a basic UNIT looks like:

Here is a team moving into their allocated zone:
By 3:20 p.m, we have like a hundred EBC members aggressively targeting those rubbish out there. No place was spared nor overlooked...especially those dreaded gutters!

Check out the photos below:
The BIG drainage gutter...

Small gutter...

Side-walk gutter...

Car park gutter... Like I said, no gutters were spared.

Obviously we didn't just cover gutters, but the team moved systematically everywhere combing through their zones:
General areas around shop houses...

Residential areas...

Public parks...

Public playground...

Grassy road sides...

EVEN road dividers... >gulp<

All teams exhibited excellent working team spirit with huge doses of energy. They seemed to be having more fun than "labouring". Here are some examples:
The loving hubby-wife spirit...

The HYPER-enthusiast spirit...

The "tourist" spirit...

The "adventurous" spirit...

The joyful spirit...

The "professional" spirit...

By 4:30 p.m...

All in all, by the grace of God, everything was going supremely well today. The weather was fabulous, the teams were all in high spirit, all had a great time, all were safe & sound...and we collected LOTS of rubbish, thus making Hui Sing, our very own neighbour, a MUCH cleaner place! Hallelujah!

To ALL the participating members - THANK YOU for a SUCCESSFUL community Gotong Royong!!! You guys were GREAT!!! And never forget who we are doing this for - as unto our LORD JESUS!!!

And not forgeting our prayer team too - THANK YOU!

To God be the glory!

Honoring Pastor Kueh!

This morning, BOTH the Mandarin & the English congregations surprised Pastor Kueh by celebrating his birthday EARLY. Much thanks to the love and planning by Pastor Cheng and the elders who had "conspired" the events today many weeks back ;)

We want to give thanks to our Abba Father & our Lord Jesus Christ for the faithful service of Pastor Kueh over all these years. Like Pastor Kueh said: "Should I boast, let me boast in the LORD. Only by His grace."

Below are some pictures taken this morning. Enjoy!

1) Gifts from a thankful church:

2) The Cake(s):

*Bro Peter PERSONALLY baked this cake!

3) Thanks Giving & Prayers:

Lastly, since there are many new ones in the congregation over the years, a short video was done to introduce a bit of EBC's history, as well as Pastor Kueh's "path" to ordination.

Once more, thank you Jesus for Pastor Kueh, a vessel of honour chosen to feed & guide the sheep in EBC.

To God be the Glory.

Happy Father's Day!

This morning the church celebrated Father's Day at ACS Hall with our invited speaker from Penang, Ps KB Chan.

Ps Chan is known as the Pastor without the kidneys. A dialysis patient for more than 14 years and yet serving the LORD actively full time. Ps Chan is especially gifted in the music ministry. Do check out his anointed songs here.

As a side note: praise the LORD for brother Phang, a pioneer of EBC who left the church for a season pursuing his career, but now is back and is serving as an Elder in the Mandarin congregation. This morning he served as the translator, and I must say, he is a WORLD CLASS English-to-Mandarin translator. Praise the LORD!

Ps Chan shared a message of hope & encouragement to all especially those who are going through a time of trial & suffering. Perhaps the best Scripture to sum up the message this morning is:

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4)

Drawing from his own great sufferings, Ps Chan also experienced God that paralleled Job's ultimate "prize" - TRUELY knowing God - when Job confessed:

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye SEES you. (Job 42:5 emphasis mine)

Beloved, just as prophet Habakkuk questioned God's "questionable non-response" to the invasion of Israel by the wicked Assyrians, ultimately Habakkuk understood that God has His own sovereign purpose, timing and will. Our part is to BELIEVE that our God is a good God. That He only has the best of intentions for His children who are bought by the blood of Jesus.

Our part is to rejoice and to hope in His Words.

Just as God answered Habakkuk: The righteous shall live by his faith. (Hab 2:4)

Let us too have faith and believe in the many promises of God in the Bible when we are going through trials. After all, didn't Jesus also comforted us saying:

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Hallelujah!

Slide show of the LineDancing Outreach on May 24th 2009!

Once more, a big thank you for all the members of EBC LineDancing team and for all the friends and family members who attended!
